Luo Lixin and the children

There is an old-fashioned building in Baiguan Town, Lusong District, Zhuzhou City, Hunan Province The brick and tile house is dilapidated but has simplicity and elegance. The wooden sign at the door reads: Baiguan Calligraphy and Painting Academy. Currently, there are more than 80 children studying art here for free.

Luo Lixin, the founder of the calligraphy and painting academy, is a personal painter. Since 2018, he has successively opened 4 free teaching points in various districts of Zhuzhou City, including Jamaica Sugar. As an art teacher in a primary school, I work to each school once a week to give a class. In addition, I take classes at the calligraphy and painting academy, so I am very busy every day.

It all started one day in 2006. That day, Luo Lixin was painting in his studio when he suddenly heard something coming from inside. He looked up and saw a few little heads lying on the windowsill, staring at him curiously as he painted. Luo Lixin’s heart trembled, he stopped the brush in his hand, and his thoughts returned to the past like a flashback in a movie…

In 1979, Luo Lixin was born in Baiguan Town, an unknown person. Prosperous family. He has had a strong interest in painting since he could remember, but his family could not afford painting paper and paint, and they could not afford to send him to a specialized institution to study. So he used branches as brushes and the ground as a drawing board, whenever he had free time. Just graffiti everywhere in the free space.

When Luo Lixin was about eleven or twelve years old, he heard that an art training class had opened in the town. He ran over curiously and hid outside the window to secretly listen to the teacher’s class. Unexpectedly, while he was staring intently, the boss of the training class found out that he was no longer allowed to attend the class.

When he was 17 years old, Luo Lixin left the suburbs of Zhuzhou alone and became a construction worker. But his love for painting has not diminished at all. No matter how hard or tiring the day’s work is, he will paint for a while when he returns to his residence in the morning, every day, and he is never lazy.

Four years later, Luo Lixin worked as a dishwasher in a hotel. In his spare time, he drew a monkey and hung it on the wall of the hotel’s bathroom for decoration. One day, Zhou Wei, then chairman of the Zhuzhou Artists AssociationZhao happened to see this strange painting. After interrogation, he found Luo Lixin and immediately offered to teach him painting at no cost.

Since then, Luo Lixin followed Zhou Weizhao to study the system and made great progress towards his ideal. Later, he received help from many teachers one after another, and after hard training, he finally became a Jamaica Sugar personal artist.

Time flies, but memory cannot be consumed. Luo Lixin looked at the children lying on the window sill of his studio and asked himself – “Isn’t that look the same as myself when I was a child?”

He immediately called these children into the studio. , offered to teach them to draw. “I don’t want them to be rejected like I was back then.” He said that he was able to get to where he is today step by step, isn’t it just because he met a good teacher? Now, you can become that kind of teacher and change the fate of others.

In July 2006, Luo Lixin rented a house in Tianyuan District and founded the first public art training class, teaching left-behind children to draw on weekends for free. I usually go to some schools with relatively backward conditions to take art classes on a regular basis. He secretly vowed: “No matter what, we must continue to do this.”

Over the years, the children’s trust and achievements have become Luo Lixin’s biggest motivation. Xiaofan studied in the training class for four years. After entering middle school, he often used his holidays to bring his classmates and parents to the training class to volunteer and collect books and clothing for the children. Now many children, including Xiaofan, have been admitted to study fine arts at their favorite universities.

In order to provide better learning opportunities for children in his hometown, in March 2015, Luo Lixin transformed his old house into a calligraphy and painting academy, recruiting students who are interested in studying art at no cost. But children from difficult families. From decoration to purchasing learning equipment, Luo Lixin spent a total of more than 200,000 yuan. In order to save costs, he did everything himself.

After the children learned about Luo Lixin’s “majestic project”, they came to help in groups, carrying bricks, pushing carts…

After the calligraphy and painting institute was built, Luo Lixin, who came from a peasant family, not only taught children painting, paper-cutting and calligraphy, but also took them to the countryside to experience the hard work and joy of rest.

In the calligraphy and painting academy, the most popular activity among children is the annual charity summer camp. “About 100 left-behind children will be recruited in each phase, divided into three batches, and will be held for 7 days respectively.Camp sports. Luo Lixin introduced that the summer camp has been successfully held for seven times so far, and Luo Lixin spent more than 200,000 yuan on Jamaicans Sugardaddy.

“Nowadays, many public welfare organizations participate in summer camps every year. Luo Lixin said excitedly that the students he taught often come back with their parents and classmates to help.

Luo Lixin’s missionJamaicans Sugardaddy‘s teaching has been recognized by more and more people, and has made more and more mistakes. He said with a smile: “Although I am not rich materially, I feel that my The spiritual world is still very rich. “

Since 2006, Luo Lixin has taught more than 8,000 children to learn painting at no cost. Now, work teaching has long become Luo Lixin’s way of life, “Once it starts, it’s Can’t stop. “He said: “This is what I want to do for the rest of my life. “(Yuan Lin)
